Will Google Payments Ban Kill Mozilla Firefox?

The Justice Department’s recent antitrust case against Google has sparked a great deal of debate in the technology and privacy communities. Aimed at dismantling Google’s search monopoly, the case proposes to ban Google from paying other companies, such as Mozilla, for search engine placement. But as the Justice Department attempts to level the playing field in the search and web browser markets, this decision could inadvertently threaten Mozilla’s ability to maintain one of the few good alternatives to Google Chrome: Firefox.
