Regulation and perception of social networks

Post by armdrejoan »

Social networks such as Facebook, Google, TikTok and Snapchat are perceived by many Italians as tools with excessive power in influencing behaviors. Overall, 52% of respondents believe that this influence is significant, 23% consider it very high, while 25% judge it to be irrelevant. In large urban chinese overseas british database centers, 31% of respondents believe that social networks exert a strong power in influencing behaviors, compared to 15% in small centers, where 32% consider the influence of the platforms to be insignificant. These data reflect greater attention and sensitivity to digital risks in urban areas.

The report highlights the uncertainty of Italians regarding the regulation of social networks. While in large cities 29% require more stringent government regulations, in small municipalities 62% believe that the internal rules of the platforms are sufficient. This fragmented vision highlights a cultural gap in the understanding of self-regulation mechanisms and their impact.

Conclusions
Despite the growing centrality of privacy in public debate, the Privacy and Security Report highlights that there are still profound differences in the perception and management of data protection between large cities and small towns. To fill these gaps, it seems essential to promote greater digital literacy, especially in less connected areas, and ensure that digital sustainability becomes a shared priority at national level.
