Summer is here, the heat and the holidays… (well, the latter only sometimes). Unemployed people know what we are talking about: all around us, family and friends are starting their summer break, but we remain the same, “unemployed”. The difference is that we may feel that we do not have the right to enjoy a well-deserved break. A feeling that is reinforced if we are long-term unemployed… another summer and I still haven’t found a job! - we think.

There will always be those who tell us: “Take advantage of these latvia phone number data summer months to look for a job more calmly”! Perhaps it is not an option that is completely out of the question, but it is possible that our frustration grows: usually , at this point, companies have already finished summer hiring and selection processes have closed for vacation, until their next opening in September-October .

So, what to do? At the Adecco Foundation we have it clear: take a breath, invest in emotional health and gain momentum . Don't you think it's time to recharge your batteries to resume your job search with more strength than ever? Here are some key points:

1 SET NEW GOALS . Perhaps these summer months will give you enough peace of mind and perspective to reflect and design a new path to employment, with a different strategy. After months or years of looking for work, we may be overcome by feelings of guilt, shame, discouragement... but convince yourself: what you have done so far has not been in vain. Perhaps you sent out many CVs and were not called for any interviews? Did you do interviews but never heard from the company again? Do you think you were not consistent enough in your job search? If the answer is yes, don't worry! It's time to reflect on it and rethink your strategy for the "new year." If what you did isn't working, change it. Look for new goals and new purposes. For example, if you only sent CVs on job portals, it's time to diversify and network, go to forums, events or make self-applications.

2. REST AND DISCONNECT. Being unemployed does not mean that you do not have the right to enjoy yourself. July and August are good months to disconnect with relaxing activities that you cannot normally do throughout the year: outdoor excursions, getaways, meetings with friends, cooking, reading, etc. Having hobbies and enjoying them is essential to success in the workplace. Do not give them up because you are unemployed, because you will be moving away, without realizing it, from your professional goal.
