There are days when you feel like you are in the right place, doing what you should be doing. Last November 28th, in the historic town of Pedraza , was one of those days. We met there for the first edition of the Vivaces Summit 2024 , a meeting that was not just another event on the calendar, but a genuine commitment to transform and bring back vivacity to our most rural territories.
Pedraza: more than a stage, a symbol
Choosing Pedraza was no coincidence. This town in Segovia, with its rich history and charm, represents so many other places that are fighting against depopulation and seeking to reinvent themselves. There, amid cobbled streets and under a sky that seemed bluer than ever, we met companies, institutions, government representatives and, most importantly, people eager to change things.
The power of alliances
The day started with the energy of Rocci Meffer and his band, reminding us that culture is the soul of any community. Then, our friend and journalist Pablo Maderuelo took over, guiding us with his passion and knowledge. At the opening table, we shared visions with:
José Enrique Reques , mayor of Pedraza, a man who lives and breathes for his town.
Jorge Llorente, Deputy Minister of Community Agricultural Policy and Rural Development.
Itziar García , president of Vivaces, whose determination is contagious.
Together, we discuss not only the challenges, but also the opportunities that lie ahead. Because yes, there are problems, but there are also solutions waiting to be discovered.
Innovation that comes from the heart of the people
One of the most inspiring moments was learning about the project that addresses the challenge of housing in rural areas, especially in places like San Esteban de Gormaz . There, in collaboration with companies like Amazon , Bayer and Danone , we are leading a regulatory sandbox that seeks innovative solutions to the problem of access to housing in rural areas and, above all, to encourage the repopulation of these rural areas. It is not just technology; it is understanding that true innovation is what improves people's lives.
We are doing this with a view to it being used for other towns and areas with similar challenges.
The future is in the young (and in the not so young)
As CEO of SiteGround Spain, I had the privilege of participating in a fascinating dialogue with Jorge Cuevas , the soul of Raíces y Sueños . Jorge is not just an entrepreneur; he is a dreamer who does. His project in Cantabria offers educational and recreational activities for children, sowing seeds that will bear fruit in the future. At SiteGround, we believe that education and technology are drivers of change. That is why we support initiatives such as Rural Hackers , a school, or rather, a co-living with educational residences and a high commitment to their area; the heart of Galicia where young people learn digital skills and, most importantly, discover that their place is wherever they want to be.
Celebrating the brave
I cannot fail to mention the winners of the Rural Projects with Social and Environmental Impact Competition . Five initiatives that show us that entrepreneurship is not about geography, but about people:
Tarsa Potatoes : Óscar and Gema are revolutionizing agriculture in Pinarnegrillo, Segovia, with sustainable practices and a passion that can be felt in every word.
Kampanera : Lucía takes us to Mucientes, Valladolid, where her artisanal kombucha is more than a drink; it is a way of understanding life.
Neil Tech : Néstor is in Chulilla, Valencia, demonstrating that medical technology can (and should) reach everyone.
InBiota : Luz Angélica, from Almería, shows us how biotechnology can improve soils and lives.
The Green Experience : Santiago invites us to discover Camp de Morvedre in Valencia in a way we never imagined.
They don't just take initiative; they inspire. And that's what we belgium whatsapp number data need.
At SiteGround, we don't just talk. We believe in action. In addition to our partnership with Vivaces, we're involved in projects that we're proud of:
The Regulatory Sandbox in San Esteban de Gormaz : Together with Vivaces and other leading companies, we are participating in this initiative that seeks real solutions to the housing problem in rural areas. It is a pioneering project that brings together the public and private sectors to innovate in policies and regulations that benefit rural localities.
Rural Hackers : Where technology and education go hand in hand.
Roots and Dreams : Supporting those who support education in rural areas.
Other CSR Initiatives : Programs to reduce the digital divide, promote entrepreneurship and improve the quality of life in diverse communities.
Our unwavering commitment
