There are lessons from the collaborative economy that can be useful for all types of SMEs. These are lessons that can be learned from the way in which the collaborative economy organizes its activities .

The collaborative economy has highlighted some of the main organisational challenges , but also some of the main tools to address them. From this we can draw some important lessons from the collaborative economy for SMEs and the self-employed.


1) We must fight against idle resources
One of the main motivations of the collaborative economy is the fight against idle resources . For some, it represents the opportunity to earn an income when they are not going to use something they own. For others, it is an option to access certain goods and services sporadically without having to face the outlay of their acquisition.

Although not always, idle resources in SMEs are night clubs and bars email list often a sign of organisational problems . There are resources that are not used in case something fails. Investments are not used to their full capacity due to process failures . There are plenty of material and human resources, but little demand. Many more examples could be given, but they usually refer to organisational deficiencies.

The collaborative economy offers a new way of organising company activities . Resources can be supplied in alternative ways. Obviously, there are other alternatives to combat idle resources. But the important thing is that the collaborative economy places this organisational problem high on the agenda of unresolved issues for most SMEs.

Many SMEs take their cue from what their competitors do . If their closest references do the same, the common organizational problem is less relevant. Now, the collaborative economy is encouraging companies to search for solutions and it would not be good to be left behind.

2) Every business must generate trust between the company and the customer
The sharing economy has been looking for ingenious solutions to solve the problem of trust . Putting our resources at the disposal of others can be risky. And the same happens when we place our trust in others to be as they say.

User opinions based on prior experience can provide confidence. The same is true for accreditations from experts or specialist companies. Documentation of objective facts provides elements for comparison . The collaborative economy seeks to improve solutions to problems that cause mistrust.
