Once again, Sage has presented the 2017 Law Firm Observatory Study , which shows the main trends in the sector and offers very interesting data on its future and evolution. The study can be downloaded for free. The trend and stability of the sector is maintained, but despite the good economic expectations, the sector is struggling to grow.


At this stage, after the economic crisis, the market and the client seem to have changed. We are facing a tougher market and a tougher client , not only with regard to their pricing policy, but, above all, in the proposal and quality of the services. If we add to this the fact that most of the offices do not have a standardised growth model, this means that they are stagnant and more vulnerable and less competitive when faced with new business models .

Professional firms that have seen their respective client portfolios decrease have lost an average of approximately 8 clients (one and a half fewer than in 2015). On the other hand, those that have gained new clients have almost doubled their number compared to the previous year. The sectors that have changed the most in terms of consultancy services have been construction, commerce and hospitality , the most volatile in terms of the hiring of consultancy services.
