When preparing a b2b marketing budget – and this is also applicable to b2c – we need to know two things :
2022 Goals . The marketing budget (and marketing plan) must serve the goals – both company-wide and department-specific. You need to invest in what will help you achieve your goals for 2022. Having the right budget will help you execute the actions and campaigns necessary to achieve your goals.

After this comes the time to align the business objectives with our sales funnel and marketing plan ; but to do so, it is important to have clear answers to these questions in order to develop our marketing plan and budget:
How much profit do we need to generate?
How many sales do we need to reach the target profit?
How many leads do we need to become customers? Lead to customer conversion rate? CAC per channel ?
Now comes the fun part – budgeting. My advice is to make an estimate by line items and by quarter (for example, due to seasonality, the investment required in Q2 is not the same as in Q3); such as: Content Marketing, Brand, Events, Paid, etc. and, with this division made, analyze the ROI of these lines in 2021 and how they could scale (if necessary). Although it is tempting to include many different actions, we must always have the objectives and results that each of the channels can offer us based on the history we have.
