Capterra Software Buyer's Guide Methodology

Post by rosebaby3892 »

We developed Capterra's software buying guides based on our own data and insights to help software buyers find and test the systems that best meet their needs. We used the following sources in creating these guides:

Data from user ratings and reviews on Capterra
Capterra provides a user-generated review platform where users can rate software products. To date, Capterra has published more than 2 million verified reviews for more than 45,000 software products in over 1,200 software categories.

Our team of experts manually reviews all reviews to ensure that all published reviews come from verified sources and provide helpful content. During this verification process, all reviews are treated equally, regardless of b2b email list the provider and whether they are positive or negative. The team verifies the reviewer's identity, checks for conflicts of interest, and rates the review against our site's guidelines. Learn more about our review verification process.

We conduct sentiment analysis of submitted reviews to identify trends in user feedback and, for example, to understand what users find most useful when using a software or where they see challenges. We determine a sentiment score by identifying the most positive and negative user perceptions on specific aspects (e.g., software integration, benefits, pricing, usability, feature set).

Review excerpts are excerpts from longer reviews written by verified reviewers. These excerpts are determined by an algorithm that considers factors such as word count and topic coverage. The excerpts are not edited for clarity or grammatical accuracy.

We also ask reviewers to rate how important various features are to them for each software category on a scale from “low” to “critical.”

We use review data to inform buyers about what other users consider most important when purchasing software, which features they use most often in a particular software category, what they find most beneficial about a piece of software, and where they see challenges when using a particular type of software.

The reviews reflect the opinions of users and do not represent the opinion of Capterra or its affiliates, nor do they constitute an endorsement.
