What do you use data analysis for?

Hotel Messeyne is a 4-star hotel located in Kortrijk, Belgium. It is managed by Siegfried Beeckaert who, together with his in-laws, also runs the trendy three-star Square Hotel and the Studio K complex that welcomes guests for longer stays. In total, there are about 60 rooms, a gourmet restaurant, a lounge and a terrace. Siegfried collects the most accurate data where he can to keep an overview of his business.

What does your typical day look like?
In the morning, I look at the reports from the day before. To check the bills, the invoices and the different tables. The system for the restaurant is very global and easy from an accounting point of view. Today, we still have to encode some of the tickets in the PMS system, but this will no longer be the case when we have coupled our Lightspeed system to this PMS .
Before Lightspeed, we worked with a slow cash register teacher data system, from which I could not extract any reports. I no longer have to analyze anything personally today, but I have more control. And what used to take me an hour now takes me ten minutes.
Literally, at every level. I determine prices and menus based on sales figures. I have a view of inventory and I can manage my staff schedules based on off-peak and peak hours. This is the kind of information I use at every level.
A specific example?
I know exactly how much and which products I have sold at the bar, in the restaurant and at all the tables. Today, for example, I see in black and white that turbot is popular. This allows me to easily discuss purchases and menus with the chef.

And the system is simple, even for employees who have never used it before. Before starting, we contacted colleagues who worked with Lightspeed systems. It's an investment, so I wanted to understand the possible uses.
