Optimize and enhance your images

Post by arzina221 »

OptinMonster wrote an extensive article in January of this year about how to improve your time on site and boost your SEO performance. In this article I share a top 8 of what I believe and experience to be the most effective ways to improve your website.

1. Keep your design tidy
A user decides in a few seconds whether he stays on your website. So make sure you present all important and convincing information right above the fold. And do this clearly and concisely. Pay attention to desktop and mobile and… Less is more in this case.

When I have a new website made for a client or a redesign implemented, time on site is an important point of attention. And every time the design has become calmer and clearer, a nice increase of this ranking factor and the conversion can be seen.

2. Ensure good readability on all devices
Personally, I immediately tune out if a site is not suitable for, or does not work well on mobile devices . I am not the only one:

85% of adults think that a company's mobile website should be as good or better than their desktop website. ( Visual.ly )
57% of users say they won't recommend a company with a poorly designed mobile site. (SocPub)
What are the minimum requirements?

Sufficiently large letters and line spacing
Avoid long, complicated sentences and paragraphs
Work with headings, lists, bullet points and white space
3. Use attractive, high-quality images
Users form an opinion about your site in 50 milliseconds (that's 0.05 seconds). Which do you think works better, this one?

For Restaurant Dauphine I asked a good photographer to photograph the inside and outside of the business. Anyone who knows this place knows that the business and the interior are a special feature that you want to magnify. In short, people like to look at images. Regularly alternate the texts on your site with nice, beautiful, clarifying images of good quality.

Make sure your images are optimized: maximum resolution with low loading time. This guide will show you how. Enhance and personalize your images with tools like Canva and PictoChart .

And for photography, make sure that any photographer you hire can also do very good post-processing of the photos.

5. Use video for an interactive experience
People like to watch videos, as a change from reading texts on a website. With (short) videos, the interaction and time on your website will increase.

I have noticed that nowadays you can make professional videos yourself, or have them made, for a reasonable budget. And if performing in your own videos is really not an option for you, then think about animation.

Of course, taste is a matter of opinion, but this corporate video by Diks fits the profile of Diks very well in my opinion. And, you keep watching… all time on site and 220,000 (!) people have done so by now. .

6. Provide internal links
Internal links give users the opportunity to canada telegram data click through to more, or other interesting information on your website. Therefore, place links to related pages and topics on every page and increase the time users stay on your site.

7. Add successful cases
People like to read about how others have achieved their (similar) goals. They inspire, motivate and they want to share that. I already notice it when we show these results to customers. So do that on your website too, if possible.

8. Use an exit intent pop-up
Eventually people will leave your website. If they want to do that, try to get them to convert with an exit intent pop-up for a newsletter, free trial or download. I know, just like the cookie notification, it can be annoying. But if you use it correctly and try it out, conversions can come from it.

Improve your website, see what works best
Implement these tactics on all pages of your site and look in analytics to see what works best. See what works for you and feels right and good luck.
