Post by Aklima@4 »

The term self-employed , through Social Security legislation, has gradually been introduced into the whole of Spanish law. Today, there is even a Statute of Self-Employment . In turn, in tax laws the terms entrepreneur or professional are frequently used .

These concepts, that of the self-employed and that of the entrepreneur or professional, are closely related terms . However, there are differences to take into account. It is important to distinguish between them because, sometimes, small differences can lead to different regulations.

Common notes on the concepts of self-employed and entrepreneur or professional
For a particular person to be included in any of the categories, they must meet some common requirements .

Resource management
Both the self-employed and the entrepreneur engineering email list or professional must organize resources for a productive purpose . These resources can be both material and human resources.

In the case of professionals , these resources are usually fundamentally human. The most characteristic feature of professionals is the importance of their knowledge, organization, attitudes, skills and experiences. For example, a lawyer can organize the knowledge and dedication of a team of people to carry out legal advice and defense activities.

However, this does not prevent most professionals from ordering material resources for productive purposes . Thus, for example, a doctor can order equipment and instruments to serve his medical activity.

Purpose of market intervention
The productive activity that is the focus of the management of human and material resources must be directed towards the market . Thus, those who carry out activities strictly for their personal and family sphere, without directing them at any time towards the market, are not entrepreneurs or professionals, nor are they self-employed.

This characteristic is also important for non-profit entities. Even if they are not profit-making, if these entities intervene in the market, charging for some of their activities, they become entrepreneurs or professionals .
