We also found that the average daily number of email opens increased significantly to 106% after Thanksgiving through Wednesday.

So, if you want to get the best engagement during this holiday, you should target the Monday before Thanksgiving and the Tuesday or Wednesday after T-Day.

Christmas email opening rates
The Christmas season probably appeals to you because it is when most B2C businesses earn the majority of their annual revenue.

Good news – email opens are 6% higher the week before Christmas (likely holiday shoppers looking for last-minute deals).

Then around December 22nd, the decline in open rates continues until the New Year.

So how big a drop did they see? On Christmas Eve, engagement dropped by 42%. And on Christmas Day, it rose to 72% (for obvious reasons).

This continues the week after Christmas with 33% and 35% reduced open rates for December 29th and 30th.

Is New Year better?
We saw a drop in email rates after Christmas, leading into the New Year and beyond.

According to this Hubspot graph, email opens student data decreased by 37% on New Year's Eve and 62% on New Year's Day.

So when will things return to normal?

We see that around January 12th (Monday), the engagement rate increases by 5%. Then, Thursday, it peaks.
