Techniques for Building a Strong Website Structure with Internal Links

Post by shakil1567 »

Building internal links means building a website structure. And to build a strong structure, it is not enough to just rely on 'related posts' and links in the navigation menu. There are techniques to make your website more solid.

About internal links
So that there is no misunderstanding, I will first briefly explain the meaning.

Internal links are links that lead from one page to another on the same email list website. While external links or backlinks come from outside the website.

There are 3 main purposes of links on a website:

Facilitate visitor navigation
Forming a website structure
Distributing authority to other pages of the website
So, if on your website there is 1 page that has high authority (because of backlinks), you can distribute its power to other pages. This is the importance of internal links.

Good website structure
I mentioned earlier that one of its functions is to form a website structure. The reason is because pages that get a lot of internal links will be considered as the main page by search engines.

In this off-page SEO guide I explain the importance of links, including internal links.

Here is an example of a good website structure (simplified):

Website Structure

Each circle represents a single web page and the lines represent links. The larger the circle, the greater the authority of the page (because it has many links).

This structure is good because it clearly shows which content is the main one and which content is related and supports the main content. Thanks to this, visitors and search engines can easily explore the site.

For example, on the PanduanIM.com website, these guides are the main content.

This main content is heavily linked and connects other content.

Why 'related posts' are not enough
Many websites, especially blogs and online stores, rely solely on automatically generated related posts to build internal links.

This kind of method is not good enough to build a website structure.

Since the links in related posts are generated automatically by the system, you have no power.
